Looking into recent temperatures for the 13th generation (upgraded PC recently)
Hi everyone, I've reviewed a few threads and Intel's Reddit posts. It seems 90-100% usage is quite typical these days, especially under full load. I was worried because I noticed the CPU size exceeded the standard dimensions yesterday. When installing it into the socket, I followed MSI's recommended thermal paste guidelines—5 dots, covering four corners and one center. The CPU performed well, running two games with Chrome and downloading via an app. Temperatures were around 50-65°C initially, dropping to about 40°C after using the download app (Wabbajack) and Chrome. This was after a 10-minute stress test. Did anyone notice I might have applied the paste unevenly? Should I reapply it? All other cores stayed at 70°C, while the first six were overheating. The multi-thread reset happened after 8 minutes. Thanks for your help!
It's typical for the first six cores (0-5) to be the performance cores, responsible for the majority of heat and power usage on 13th generation processors. The remaining eight are the efficiency cores, which operate much cooler and consume significantly less energy. A difference of roughly 15-20°C between these groups aligns with common observations.
Thanks a lot! I was concerned since the CPU slows down during games like Minecraft, but it handles them fine otherwise. Appreciate your support!
