Looking for Windows 10 Enterprise?
Recently, a friend upgraded their system to Win10 Enterprise and reported noticeable improvements in overall performance and stability after the switch. I’m currently using the free upgrade of Win10 Home. My setup includes an Intel Core i7-8700K overclocked to 4.2 MSI-Z370 GAMING PRO CARBON with 32GB DDR4 RAM at 3200 MHz. I also have an Asus Strix GTX 1080 with two ROG X 2 graphics, a Samsung Evo 960 M.2 500GB SSD, and three 3TB HDDs paired with Delta PFB1212UHE 120x38mm fans and a Noctua 120 fan. My system runs on an 850 Thermaltake Gold RGB PSU with NZXT Kraken X52 and a 3.2TB HDD.
I’m wondering if others have noticed similar performance gains or benefits from switching to Win10 Enterprise. It seems the change has helped with stability, especially since I’ve experienced random CPU spikes from background processes and Aura Asus software. My current setup has been running smoothly, but I’ve added fans to maintain optimal temperatures to prevent further hardware stress.
If anyone has insights or recommendations on mandatory configurations for Win10 Home that could address these CPU spikes, I’d really appreciate it!
It seems the installation lacks some standard components typically found in Windows 10, meaning Cortana, Edge, and Skype aren't present.
Enterprise offers greater management over installed applications, particularly UWP services. You may discover scripts and adjustments to the registry that disable specific services and installations, slightly boosting performance. However, the performance gain is usually minimal, especially considering the cost of a single Enterprise license.
It seems like he just required a system reinstall to see the performance improvements. Appreciate you clearing that up!
This applies only to ltsb, which has its own issues and isn't available on the 8700k (to my knowledge)
