Hello everyone, I'm trying to understand this problem. My dad lives in a remote area and has to use satellite internet, which is really slow. Since he manages a farm, the local cable company offered him a discounted rate of $7000 to install cable. His driveway is about half a mile long, and they suggested he could either buy the equipment himself or have them install it for a $75 activation fee. My friends and I decided we'd spend the weekend going there to set everything up for him—he's 60 and we don't want him working on ladders. The challenge is at around 2600 feet, so we'll likely need signal boosters to strengthen the connection from the road to his house. Can anyone suggest how to arrange this? Is it feasible to place a powerful booster along the line to improve the signal? Are there specific boosters we should consider using? We thought it would be simpler to install them at both ends if possible. Thanks, Ken Caggiano

The maximum length for a coaxial cable is 500 meters. This information comes from the forum thread discussing internet coaxial cables.

I checked that earlier too. The limit for using a cable without a booster is about 500 meters. I’m sure there are alternatives, after all—why would the company say it’s possible when it clearly isn’t? I think we should look for a fresh tech tips video.

Coax offers a more advanced solution, while fiber optics are future-proof. Coax is outdated.

It's unfortunate, a single-mode fiber can only reach up to 32 kilometers.

I understand, right? I checked out Single-mode Fiber, and it would have been pretty straightforward.
