Sure! Upgrading from an i5 2500K to a newer setup sounds like a solid plan. The i7 2700K offers more cores and threads, which could potentially boost performance in modern games that leverage multi-core processing. Even with fewer physical cores, the extra threads might help maintain smoother performance or better utilization of newer titles. Just keep in mind that the actual impact depends on the specific games you play and how they utilize CPU resources.

It varies based on the game. It can be similar in some cases and identical in others. This is because of differences like the slower IPC in Sandy Bridge and the limitations of having only four cores, no matter how many threads are used.

Get the best value from a new graphics card, even an older GTX 970 under $100 could work well compared to a 660ti. The market under $200 is mostly outdated, so I’d recommend going used now—like a 1060 or 1070—only if you can find good deals. The right choice really depends on the games you plan to play.

I wouldn't bother at all. The gap between those two CPUs is pretty small. The i5-2500k needs a score of 4,090, while the i7-2700k requires 5,607. For context, a Ryzen 3-3300X—similar to the i3s—has a threshold of 12,777. Beyond old games, this won't really boost performance in modern titles.
