Looking for video editing tools that fit a medium hardware setup. Avoid Premiere Pro and Vegas, and skip Windows Movie Maker. Consider alternatives like DaVinci Resolve, Shotcut, or Adobe Premiere Rush.

Lightworks is excellent, though it comes with a steep learning curve.

You're using a very limited setup, so Final Cut Pro X works well on your older MacBook Pro. For smoother performance, consider using an iPhone with iMovie—it's optimized for that platform. If you prefer something else, stick to non-branded options; they often have performance issues and quirks. Lightroom is a solid choice and doesn't need the Color Correction panel.

FCP X is designed for Mac OS, not Windows. It's a bit disappointing since you're on a 32-bit system.

I'll attempt it once I'm back. Is there a free option available?

For video editing, it's recommended to use 64-bit processing.

Sure, I can help with that. The time it takes to learn depends on various factors, but generally it varies based on your background and effort.
