Hey forum, I’ve noticed something odd about my PC setup. It was built in 2017 with an i5 7600K, an RTX 1060, one SSD and one HDD. Since then, I only changed the graphics card to a budget RX 5700X and added a couple of extra drives for storage and a new case. I’ll share photos of both cases, but I have a question: when booting up with the Corsair 400D airflow, there’s no sound at all—just silence. I thought moving my old hard drives away from the front might have helped, but now it’s completely quiet. I’m not sure why this is happening and would really appreciate any insights from anyone who’s experienced this issue. Thanks in advance!

The rubber pads are positioned between the case and the HDD. The SATA connection sequence differs depending on the setup. I switched to an SSD for the boot drive. Regarding the cases, I found several orange ones on an online marketplace. As for the front I/O, it either folds down into a flat top or remains exposed.

The brands of both GPUs are AMD and Intel.

hard drives are now located in a small bay at the bottom of the case, possibly redirecting the noise. It seems the SATA connections might have changed; I wasn’t really focused on the setup details here. The SSD stays as the boot drive, and these predator cases have a slightly raised front with four USB-A ports, plus a standard microphone and headphone jack. Unfortunately, it doesn’t close properly and keeps sticking out.

my initial graphics card was an ASUS GeForce GTX 1060 with 6GB of memory, the style featuring two fans in that vintage enclosure. it seemed there was only room for a dual-fan GPU. the newer model is something like a "SAPPHIRE PULSE RX 5700 XT BE," whatever those terms mean. i don’t think switching to the new card was the issue, since i don’t remember forcing it into the old case to fix that early boot noise problem.
