I started playing D3 right after its release, enjoyed it for a while, then got bored and played less afterward after beating Inferno. I improved my gear and tried again, but still struggled with dying. When the expansion pack arrived, I played it briefly and it worked well at first, though I soon found myself failing the first major mission in the new act. I kept dying quickly—maybe escaping to a portal would help if I could reach one, but if I’m trapped I die in about 30 seconds. I’m not sure if it’s my build or gear, or maybe I just need some guidance. Here’s my main character I use: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/TRAIN...o/39539644
Run through normally or at a tough setting and climb all the way to level 70. The rewards from the expansion will be significantly improved compared to the standard version.
Lower the challenge, aim for level 70 and change your equipment, then gradually increase it again. You might find some useful crafting sets along the way. (Auguilds, Cain, Crimson @ (lvl70)) Consider using rubies for your weapon’s tip, with strength equal to armor. Start with gear that includes a sword and a shield, but if you’re struggling, skip the two-handed sword and use one-handed with a shield while you’re under heavy gear. Look for a helmet that fits a socket for an amethyst, chest armor with three sockets, pants with two sockets—marquise rubies would work well. If you have more questions, just let me know.
You could try playing with a friend or asking on the LFG forum for help grinding a new character. This might let you tackle tougher challenges. I experienced it myself—early stages were tough, but eventually we reached a level where the difficulty became less important and we progressed steadily to around 70.
Honestly Diablo 3 got good once you got the expansion which would be a bit expensive, if you want the diablo ish experience for that style of game I would suggest Torchlight 2 - fairly cheap or you could go Path of Exile for a free to play. But if you wanted to diablo diablo 3 isn't bad now but it is up to you if you want to spend 30 ish for the base game and another 30 ish dollars for the expansion
I’d still enjoy playing it a bit, though my copy vanished about five years back. With Diablo 3 I’ve reached the toughest levels, but during Diablo 2’s LOD days I never got stuck on Act 3 no matter what character I chose.
