I understand this setup isn't great, but I started watching videos thinking about it before diving into CSGO. Now I'm stuck with a new system until next year. Here are the details:

CPU
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00GHz
RAM
4.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 533MHz (7-7-7-20)
Motherboard
Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. G41MT-S2PT (Socket 775)
Graphics card
1024MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 5450 (XFX Pine Group)

I manage to maintain around 50 FPS on the lowest settings, but I'm eager to overclock it as much as possible. Any tips?

It is noted on delidded.com that the product supports up to 120W CPUs. The Q9650 offers the highest performance and CS GO can handle 4 cores. Adding another 4GB DDR3 1066 module will enable dual channel operation. You haven't specified your PSU, but a GTX10502GB costs around $110 and doesn't require an additional power cable—just avoid purchasing one with a power adapter.

For the CPU, a Xeon E5450 is available; however, you'll need to upgrade from LGA771 to LGA775. If a dual-core model is acceptable now, an E7500 could be modified to 1333fsb for up to 3.66GHz. I recommend purchasing the GPU now since it can be upgraded later. Regarding the Gigabyte BIOS settings, I'm unsure about the voltage or FSB controls.
