You're aiming for a PC capable of smooth 4K gaming at around 60 FPS across major titles like God of War and Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Consider upgrading your GPU, ensuring adequate RAM, and optimizing your system for performance.

Even a $20,000 system can drop below 60 often when all settings are at their highest. How much should you risk to stay close to but not surpass your target?

It’ll likely cost a lot of money. I’ve heard there are many games that aren’t well optimized these days.

Looking for the most affordable setup to run all those games nonstop at 4K60? The PS5 needs top-tier specs, hitting 4090 standards. At the highest settings you can get, it’s around $2500 to $3000. If you ease up a bit and balance high and ultra options, the 4K60 demands drop significantly, cutting costs. It’s much simpler if you share a budget and I’ll find the best possible system for you.

They really improved a lot, and those tips might be worth saving for the PS5.

they improved, don’t you think a PS5 offers 4K quality or the game feels the same? if you’re after a title that looks just like a sharp 720p version, a PS5 could work without spending too much.

GPUs have seen significant improvements, and games have capitalized on that by adding high detail features like ray tracing or skipping many optimizations. A 4090 offers around three and a half times the performance of a 1080 Ti, but in games from its era running at maximum settings in 4K, they deliver similar results. The main challenge with the PS5 is that its 4K60 preset matches a medium setting on PC, allowing it to run smoothly. Still, achieving that level on a PC would require investing roughly $1000 or more, making the PS5 a more cost-effective choice for high-end gaming.

The latest Avatar title really pushes my 4090 at 4K DLSS with 120Hz, but it looks stunning. Comparing to Afterburner, its frame rates range from 55 to 120fps, making Freesync/G-Sync crucial. Because of that, I didn’t even notice the drops since it stays above 80fps and often hits 120. I’m not pushing it to its limit either; I kept fog and volumetric clouds at medium settings as I remember. Cyberpunk with pathtracing is a clear example too. I’d assume all games powered by UE5 will perform well on the 4090, though native 4K is unlikely to be surpassed in most scenarios. DLSS Quality usually matches or exceeds native performance quite often.
