Looking for the most affordable improvements to enable 4K playback at ultra settings?
My current setup includes a 550 Watt PSU, an i5-9400f CPU, an RTX 2060 S GPU, two 8 GB DDR4 RAM modules, a Samsung 4K 55 inch TV monitor, and I've already invested about $1500. I can still allocate up to another $1000 for a 4K 60 FPS gaming experience at ultra settings.
It's possible, but...
The RTX 2060 Super is better than the RTX 3080.
That's already costed 700-800USD. A used 2080Ti could be a cheaper option if you're comfortable with that.
A 550 Watt PSU would be needed, though no details are available.
A decent 750 Corsair RMX should suffice, but a lower wattage model like the 650w might work too. Recommendations tend to be higher to cover different system setups.
About 140USD has already been spent.
It could stop there, but another concern is the i5-9400F.
If you play or start playing games that require more than the 6 threads it offers, maintaining 60fps might be difficult without tweaking settings or lowering performance.
It's feasible, though...

A 550 Watt PSU isn't specified, but I'm assuming it's necessary.

Upgrading to a new CPU would definitely push you past the 1000USD mark:
- Possible upgrades include 9700 (variants) and 9900 (variants).
- Your current CPU cooler may not support these models.
- For the 9900 (plus variants), these CPUs are really limited to budget motherboards like Z390 and Z370 only.
If you're willing to adjust settings for games that demand more threads, upgrades under 1000USD are achievable.
It's a cheaper option, but it only offers 8GB of VRAM; likely insufficient for ultra-only configurations. Also, you'll have to secure one beforehand... they're set to release in mid-October, specifically on the 15th.
I think it's wise to hold off until then since 1000 usd is quite limited, particularly in my country where costs are slightly higher than in the US because of shipping. Also, could the CX750 be compatible? The RMX 750 seems quite costly.
