Looking for someone who plays a 13" 2014 MBP version of League of Legends?
Considering an upgrade from the 2.6GHz i5 to a 3.0GHz i7 for LoL, especially with a focus on 1080p at 60fps, is worth exploring. The main concern is whether your current setup meets those performance needs. Since you're playing only LoL and want solid frame rates, checking if the new CPU can handle that workload will help. Looking for models or benchmarks that compare these specs can give you a clearer idea.
I own a mid-2014 13" 2.8Ghz i5 (the $1799 version) and it functions well. I managed to play BF4 on his Windows boot drive at around 30fps using Iris Graphics. My friend who plays lol on his 15" model from the same era has never had any problems.
It would be preferable to operate the game at your screen's resolution instead of 1080p
It seems you can handle high frame rates between 40-60 fps without needing an AA. The i7 would be better for other tasks, though it’s not ideal for gaming. A forum discussion suggests MbP is overpriced compared to cheaper, more powerful laptops—unless you’re specifically buying a MBP and want confirmation it will run smoothly. On the Retina Pro (2560x1600), it’s quite demanding and won’t run at native settings.
I’m not interested in the MBP for LoL; it’s the only game I’m planning to play on it. I own a gaming rig, but I need something portable and still enjoy the MBP’s experience. It’s about wanting a MBP but also needing smooth League play.
Yes, it should work well. The 15" will perform even better, while the 13" includes Intel Iris technology and should also function properly.
My name is in your profile and the laptop supports LoL 1080p at 60+fps, though I’m not sure about the exact settings since it was a while back.
