Of the many things that bug me, this is high on the list. Let's say I'm thumbing through some images and I click on one ( not open ). When I click on an image, I want to see two basic things; A larger version of the image in the preview pane so I can see it clearer, and image details. But no, Windows only has options to either view image details, or view a larger image, not both . There's PLENTY of room to display both so this makes no sense. Is there any modification I can do to fix this shit? Details only: Useless Preview only: Pointless How it should be (with photoshop):

It seems Windows 7 featured a button at the bottom to view detailed information, and a window on the right displayed an image preview, allowing users to see both together. This feature was removed in Windows 10, as noted in the edit from February 5, 2018 by Ryan_Vickers.

It has been a while since I worked with Windows 7—I didn’t realize it was gone. Maybe I’ll share this as feedback for Windows, just in case someone ever needs it.

It's not what you think.

You're asking if it's possible to have both the preview and details panes active at the same time in Windows 10. It sounds like you want to see them together for clarity. Let me explain how you can achieve that.

Unfortunately this feature is no longer available as Ryan mentioned. The positive update is that you can customize your add-on for the preview pane using programming skills if needed. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library...S.85).aspx Previously, I created one at work for our 3D model format. However, with ongoing reports about the UWP explorer replacement since Windows 10 was launched (and the mobile version having a similar update), it’s unclear if it’s worth the investment.

Things are deteriorating rapidly...soon "metro" will reduce to just a few colored dots. I wish the file explorer offered the same or better features compared to the present version.

If it doesn't, Microsoft might face the awkward scenario where users frequently rely on third-party file browsers instead of the official app interfaces.

Well that is the Win 10 mobile version of File explorer (or a replica of it). There is no drive on mobile, so "Local Disk (CSmile" isn't supposed to be there, and it makes more sense.. for a mobile file explorer type of thing. It can also be like this concept from an amateur (concept only): (Click for full screen) (sadly, it is a highly compressed image.. like I said, amateur. Not bad though, and possible layout) But seeing that its not out since WIn10 was released you can sure bet that MS knows the many things that that UWP app isn't delivering.

Because what you need isn't available right now, here are some alternatives you can try: Adobe Bridge offers extensive media browsing with full detail and previews, perfect for images. You can zoom in on thumbnails or switch to a detailed view by opening an image in the details pane. This approach should match the time it takes to load a preview.
