Looking for software to make sure files stay safe and can be checked easily?
I am looking for a program that creates a hash of a file so we can check its integrity. These files come from digital cameras and don't really matter because the format itself isn't what worries me, but I need to find a quick way to verify them using a hash. This will help me tell if a file is corrupted, meaning the hash has changed—like maybe just one bit flipped. While encryption might be cool, I only want this for checking that the data hasn't been messed up. Even a single flip in a file can make it produce a different hash, and a flipped bit could mean an image file is broken so software can't use it anymore.

7-zip can do both SHA and CRC checks. If you add the menu extensions to install it, you'll be able to generate CRC values for your files. For big files, use CRC64 instead of CRC32. Here is the official 7-zip man page: https://sevenzip.osdn.jp/chm/cmdline/commands/hash.htm
