It's often said the difference between 1080p and 4K isn't significant for RDR2. GTA V is also well-optimized, making it popular among players. I suggest purchasing one during sales if you want to try it out. I plan to test these games later since I already own them. I'll share my findings here once I've done the testing.
Apologies for the delay—I’ve been doing online exams lately. After finishing, my PC isn’t running Unity or Syndicate anymore, even when forcing TR to use 16 threads. (It won’t run at 8 or 32 threads either). I’ll look for an alternative solution.
NUMA settings can cause some games to behave poorly. While not every title reacts negatively, I faced similar problems with Civ 5 until I adjusted certain commands. Using Ryzen Master helped by disabling one node and switching RAM to local instead of distributed. Also, the Assassin Creed series isn’t known for being well-optimized. It’s recommended to fine-tune your settings until you achieve the performance and visual quality you want at your target resolution. However, don’t expect top frame rates from a Threadripper—this comes from someone who uses a 1950X for personal gaming.
I completed additional tests using an older system on Black Flag and Unity. The same scene displayed in Black Flag at 4K resolution on an i7 with a 6700k processor (4 cores, 8 threads) paired with GTX 1080s via SLI and one card. CPU and GPU utilization remained stable compared to the 2080 Ti setup. I also ran Assassin's Creed Unity, which performed smoothly like a contemporary Ubisoft title. The Ultra High preset maintained 60fps, while the Very High preset was feasible despite the 5GHz CPU.
Modern Ubisoft games often perform smoothly, especially on newer systems. You should be able to run them well above 60 fps with V-sync enabled, and motion blur is typically absent. They’re generally more advanced than Unity titles. Regarding Afterburner and your ASUS card, it depends on the specific hardware configuration—please check your graphics settings and drivers.
