If you're unsure about the motherboard, updating the BIOS isn't possible, making the third generation unavailable. The best choice you might have is an i7 2600k processor.

What's your spending limit? You won't find a brand-new CPU for that motherboard. It's better to plan ahead and save for a new CPU and motherboard together. For about 1000 lei, you can get an 10400f and B460, which offers significantly more performance than what you might otherwise have.

Also remember the updated memory module. Both the 10400F and B460 support DDR4, not DDR3. The user will also require a graphics card.

He won't require a graphics card if he opts for the non-f version. He might downgrade to an I3 10100, allowing the project to reach 1000 lei (200€) with RAM included. That would still be significantly better than his present CPU.

You mentioned the i5-10400F, but the i3-10100 could be a more suitable choice because RAM is already part of the cost.
