Looking for older games to try on Steam?

I've been really bored and searching for a game to enjoy.
I'm interested in older "classics" that are affordable—available not just on Steam but also on other sites.
I don't want to play 2D or side-scroller titles.
I've wanted to try Far Cry again, but unfortunately my computer crashes when I attempt to play any of them.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The Simpsons: Hit and Run interest you in any degree? There's a big ass modding community behind it, too, if the base game ends up boring you after completion.

Are there any safe methods to obtain these kinds of games? I've faced many problems with emulators. Also, all the guides I've read have questionable download sources!

There is a PC release available. If you don’t have any problems finding a copy on eBay, that would be an excellent option.

It also includes a fan-made HD mod and additional addons.
Perfect for those who enjoy turn-based strategy and haven't played this game before.
