Based on my own trials with this setup, don't waste time. Try to locate something in the range of 1200 to 1600.
For example, look for options under $65.

If you're fortunate and have a Micro Center close by, the one priced below $80 might be worth considering.

The chip is secured and not intended for overclocking. Probably only a few boards managed to unlock the overclocking feature. Your RAM is too slow as well. This CPU works best with 2666 RAM. AMD parts are quite sensitive to RAM speed. I think it would be better to get an affordable Ryzen 3 or 5 with faster RAM (3200 MHz).

Specifically, using the stock cooling fan even a slight overclock would rapidly warm up the sink. I could easily sell it for $25, roughly half the price I bought it for. It's quite typical to find a 1200 with a cooler priced around $50, but you need to act fast. The 1200 I had an OC of 3.9 and performed exceptionally well on the stock cooler.

I only know a handful of boards work, ASRock is one of the makers who can unlock this chip. I don’t think RAM is great, but I’m fine with upgrading to 2400 or 2600.
I’m not planning to buy a new chip for this build. The goal is to keep costs low while it still works well. When I swap my R5 1400 for an R5 3600, I’ll use the 1400 as an Athlon, but until then I’d like to boost the Athlon’s performance just for fun.

I own a Ryzen 5 cooler with strong cooling power. The upgrade isn't performing as expected.

the main goal of having this chip is the integrated gpu, so i don't switch it to an R3 or R5 unless someone gives me a free G series. it simplifies troubleshooting and system swapping, making it much easier to use integrated graphics compared to constantly changing GPUs, especially if you have more CPUs than GPUs sitting idle.
