Consider checking out compatible upgrade options for your existing PC. Look into adding a better CPU, RAM, or a solid-state drive to improve performance. If the motherboard is outdated, you might need a new one that supports modern components.

Is it equipped with a custom power source, such as omitting the standard 24-pin connector? What is the power output rating of the PSU? Also, the HP site mentions the "AMD Ryzen 5 2400G" runs with "Intel UHD Graphics 640," which seems confusing.

The system doesn't seem to match the standard setup for most current motherboards, so simply installing a generic mATX or ATX board won't work. This CPU is compatible with B350, X370, B450, and X470 boards, but I'm unsure if those will fit properly. OEM PCs tend to be tricky.

Upgrading the motherboard often requires a better power supply too. What makes you think you need both improvements?

I think I’ll replace the PSU with something better. What I understand about this unit is it supports 400 watts, and it includes a Vega 11 integrated graphics chip, though I mostly rely on the Ryzen 580.

Examining the motherboard more closely reveals it doesn’t match any standard ATX specifications, suggesting significant modifications are needed.

In your situation, changing your motherboard isn't practical unless you're swapping the whole setup. The safest option is boosting your RAM in preparation for a future upgrade to a different system.
