I recently got an Asus Z790 with a 14900K. I heard that using a Gen 5 SSD in M.2_1 could make both the 1 and 2 PCIe slots run at x8 speed. I don’t mind the Gen 5 part, but I want to keep the 4090 at x16. I’m curious if anyone can clarify this. Should I install the first OS drive without Gen 5? Can a Gen 4 stick in M.2_1 or does it need M.2_2? I’m struggling to find a clear answer and am feeling a bit lost. Also, there’s a card that came with it—my mind is spinning. I just want everything working smoothly for my raid setup without downgrading the 4090. Thanks in advance for any advice!
