Hello, I'm trying to install three RAM modules. Two ADATA DDR3 4GX16 4GB modules (1600 MHz) in slots 1 and 2, matching the Gigabyte GA-H87-D3H board color, plus one Kingston KVR16N11/8 8GB module in slot 3. After checking, the system reports a total of 16GB but keeps restarting randomly every few hours—this doesn't happen when using just the two 4GB modules. Could it be the wrong placement or incorrect modules? Are the modules faulty? Thanks. Updated: After 48 hours, no crashes occurred and only a few applications remained open before a low memory alert appeared with the 8GB module, not the two 4GB ones. So it seems okay. Considering using another similar 8GB module and keeping just these two would likely provide enough capacity.

Use the Kingston module independently for a day or two. If it keeps restarting, the issue is likely with the module itself.

Try using 7-Zip's benchmark on a configuration that fully utilizes memory. Based on my observations, 7-Zip tends to become unstable when RAM availability is limited.

Have you experimented with swapping the two ADATA sticks into different slots? Removing the Kingston component from the system? I’m considering this to fully utilize the double-data-rate capability of the memory. I plan to test it for a few days using only those two sticks. If everything functions smoothly with just the 8GB drive for a short period, I’ll proceed to insert the Kingston in one of the empty slots and observe the results. Initially, I’ll try the identical sticks in slots 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 to maximize the DDR performance before adding the unusual RAM stick. Good luck, and let me know your experience.

Arrange the two 4gb drives together in one channel. The 1600 is running at a snail-like DDR3 speed, yet RAM issues aren't behaving as expected. This suggests RAM instability—consider using prime95 large ffts to check for memory problems.

It's not a standard scenario, but I've never come across memory size issues leading to crashes. Still, your idea is worth testing.
