That game really caught my eye. I didn’t realize it was already my favorite on the couch. My mistake!
The game I'm running on OpenBSD fits the limited hardware well. Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind works nicely on that system.
I really enjoy Morrowind. I still have the CD-ROM and the entire package, with the map and booklet included. My wife also has an external drive... Hmm. On the other hand: Cliff razers
My computer is reaching its third anniversary. I skipped a GPU during the first year since they weren’t easy to locate. I settled for medium settings at 1080p or sometimes 720p, which let most games from 2012 and earlier run on the integrated graphics in my 10700K. It has higher boost speeds but looks similar to what you have now. Old F1 titles worked fine, and if you enjoy Real Time Strategy, Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance is a solid choice. Now I run it on a 3060, and because it stays CPU-intensive there’s minimal GPU impact—so you might get decent performance if you’re open to alternatives. Of course, results vary; some titles didn’t work at all on the integrated GPU, likely because they weren’t built for Intel chips.
The problem is my PC lacks an integrated graphics card, making it slow and unresponsive. My Vivobook isn't very powerful either. It's a 10th generation Intel i3 with dual cores. It might handle some of the games you mentioned, but I'm not sure. Super Commander has always been on my list—I really enjoyed Total Annihilation back then, so it could be worth looking into. Besides that, I've decided to try playing some indie pixel games in my collection ^^
We discussed the Vivobook and its Intel Ark CPU listing. It highlights GPU details, noting it's a dual-core processor. The 10700K wasn't pushing the CPU to its limits in older games, so iGPUs seem comparable and likely from a similar era. You might still enjoy 2010 titles or earlier with this setup. The Core i3 in the Vivobook offers decent performance, though it depends on your data usage. Supreme Commander:FA is definitely worth checking out, but wait for a sale price. It usually costs $12.99, but there were discounts last year and again in 2022. I’d prefer to wait for a sale. Forged Alliance Forever is another solid recommendation—it’s a community effort to maintain multiplayer support and is free.
Oh, i definetly think you are right here. There are some really good games from that period and hardware has come a long way. I guess im just in denial because i won't admit how long time ago 2010 is Hmm, im a bit torn. On one hand, ive wanted to try Surpreme Commander since it came out, but on the other hand I fear getting mulched in online multiplayer RTS. I tend to panic when too much is going on on the same time. I really enjoy grand strategy games and 4x, but all of them gives me time to look over data and make well informed decisions, while when i play CoH i get stressed out and forget 4 platoons and a tankdestroyer somewhere on the map
Indie: Hyper Light Drifter offers a fun yet tough pixel art slasher, ideal for controllers. Retro: C&C Tiberian Sun is a timeless RTS now available as freeware.
