Hello everyone, I’m planning to assemble a PC and have some questions about motherboard, CPU, and RAM choices. I aim for the best setup, avoiding mismatched components or unnecessary upgrades. Here’s my background:

- I’ve worked as a software developer, system admin, and now a DevOps engineer, so I understand software needs.
- My current build is mostly old server gear—SuperMicro board, two Xeon X5650s, 64GB ECC RAM, and a NVIDIA 1060 with 3GB RAM (all from around 2010-2012).
- I’m considering an Intel build since upgrades aren’t a priority.
- My goal is general use: UnrealEngine development, casual gaming (Far Cry 6 at low settings, ~25-30 FPS), and long-term reliability.
- I won’t be adding RGB or aesthetics; no overclocking plans.
- Budget is around 1000 USD for the main parts.

My current thoughts:
- CPU options: I’m leaning toward Intel Core i7-13700K or i9-13900K, but I want to confirm compatibility with my RAM and motherboard.
- RAM: All 16GB sticks in DDR5, so I need to match speed and capacity.
- Motherboard: I’m evaluating Z790-based boards (Rockchip Z790 PG RIPTIDE or PRO) for PCIe 5.0 support.
- Price considerations: I prefer reliable options with good value, not just flashy specs.

Questions for you:
- Is the KF processor family suitable for the i7-13700K (or even i9)?
- Should I stick with a budget-friendly board if I don’t need the latest features?
- What’s the best power delivery solution for my build?
- How important is PCIe speed for future GPUs, especially with newer cards?
- Should I go with AMD or stick to Intel for simplicity and longevity?

Hello 8tg. Your message really helped me understand things better. Thanks. It looks like we don’t have Intel CPUs without the K variant right now. I discovered K and KF models. (I’ll keep checking). I’ve heard that CPUs lacking an IGPU originally functioned as standard but ended up with a defect, and the GPU is turned off. That made me a bit nervous. I had a B660 motherboard in my list, but some sources said power delivery might be weak for 13700/13900 models, which made me hesitate. Can you say if there’s a chance of power delivery issues with non-overclocked CPUs? Also, what about the MSI MAG B660M MORTAR DDR4 (Socket 1700)? Concerning RAM, my estimates suggest that 5600MT/s at CL36 is worse than 6400MHz at CL32. I checked the forum and many people are opting for less optimal memory with lower latency. This one looks promising: Kingston FURY Renegade RGB, 32GB DDR4, 3600MHz CL16, Dual Channel Kit. I’m comfortable with PCIe connections for GPUs. No worries—so it seems like a solid setup. I think I can run an i7 13700KF with good DDR4 and low latency (3600MT CL16) on a B660 chipset board. Thanks.

K cpus excel in overclocking, while the GPU stuff doesn't hold up. Avoid the iGPU hype. For DDR4, sticking with decent RAM is ideal.
