you recently purchased an i5 13600k with a z690 socket, and you're trying to reinstall it using DDR4 memory. you mentioned lga1700 didn't fit properly, so you adjusted the retention bracket but needed a lot of force. now you're wondering if this is normal for intel processors today.

That seems standard. LGA 1700 requires a lot of pressure during installation, which is different from the zero insertion force used by AMD's sockets. You can share photos for verification, but it appears quite normal.

It appears I set it up upside down. The triangle was on the top-right corner, but it should have been on the retention bracket at the bottom-left. Fortunately, all the pins look okay.

Is the CPU fine? Placing it backward can damage the substrate, not just the pins. There are 2-4 notches that must align with the CPU; if they’re misaligned, the chip could be harmed. I thought you meant you aligned both the CPU and those notches.
