You correctly captured the title, and now you're looking to install Windows on your Dell Dimension XPS Pro 200n. The system runs Windows XP, but it's showing a disk read error during boot. You have a 3.5-inch floppy drive that might work as a bootable media. Consider using it to create a bootable Windows XP installation media if possible.

Begin by setting up DOS (I’m using DOS 7.1). Verify that Windows 95 is compatible with the DOS version you’re using. Next, install Windows 95 via DOS and then over on top of it. Add the necessary drivers. That’s the process.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this. I have a 3.5-inch floppy that needs fixing, but I'm not sure how to connect it to the drive or which one to use.

Today you access the BIOS and adjust the boot order so the CD (if available) or floppy drive comes first, ahead of the hard disk.

You might want to use Rufus to transfer a DOS 7.1 or Windows 95 image onto a USB stick. I didn’t realize the machine was quite old—does it have Windows XP installed, and was it set up with an optical drive?

I’m skipping the complicated steps and starting fresh with a standard Windows XP setup from an old drive. I’ll try installing it directly without reinstalling, and I’ll also prepare a straightforward 95 installation guide for you.
