Looking for guidance on setting up case fans for your Dell prebuilt system?
Hello everyone! I own a Dell Inspiron 3670 and just upgraded it with an RTX-3050. It’s generating a lot of heat when under heavy use. The problem is there are no fans inside the case—only the CPU, GPU, and PSU fans. That means there’s no airflow inside. I’m looking to buy some case fans and need help figuring out the right size. Can I just check the fan slot dimensions myself? I don’t see any guidance online. Also, my motherboard only has one fan header for the CPU, so how can I run both a CPU fan and a case fan from the same port? Or is there a way to connect the fans directly to the PSU? I have a 650W EVGA Gold power supply, so I have plenty of power available. Any suggestions would be really helpful! ^
You might try using a splitter to power multiple fans through the CPU header, though that’s risky without knowing why. Alternatively, you can connect a fan directly to a Molex header from the PSU, but it will run continuously at full speed—so I’d consider getting a fan controller instead. Corsair is popular, but I’m new to controllers and haven’t used one before.
You connect the fan controller to the CPU fan port, then add the CPU fans and case fans into the controller as needed.
