I realize I'll likely need a new motherboard and possibly some upgraded RAM. It seems Ryzen still gains from quick memory speeds.

The Noctua D15 should handle a 9900K temperature comfortably. Regarding Ryzen and NVMe, Intel and AMD have distinct approaches to NVMe storage, which can affect performance and compatibility.

Not much to add, but x570 offers significantly more available bandwidth and PCIe slots for M.2 devices. If you need IO, this platform is quite superior. AMD provides four CPU lanes for NVMe plus chipset support (16 + 4 + 4). Intel only includes chipset slots unless you remove lanes from the GPU (around 16 + 8). On Intel, all NVMe traffic must pass through the chipset, which slightly reduces performance. Also, AMD doesn’t support NVMe directly on the chipset as I recall—correct me if I’m mistaken.

I wouldn't recommend it if you own a 6700k. That was my previous machine, now I'm with my friends since her passed away. At the time, I switched to AMD because I wanted to try Ryzen. For gaming, she still outperforms mine in single-core performance. Plan to upgrade to a 3700x, but if I didn't give her my old PC, I'd stick with the 6700k.

Discussing AMD and OC 3700X with PBO, I opted for the 3800X instead of the 570. In my ASUS Strix X 570, the AMD OC control automatically manages PBO settings—enables and disables it. Right now I keep it in auto mode, but I’m unsure if that actually turns off or just switches it. It’s a bit confusing with all the auto options available. I’ve tested both modes, and clocks and voltages remain consistent, so I’m not sure if it makes a difference. With so many settings now, it’s overwhelming having both ASUS and AMD OC controls, especially since the system runs smoothly under water loops. I’m curious about the optimal settings for the latest Ryzen models.
