Hey! You’ve managed to connect remotely with a laptop, which is great. It looks like you’ve got the wake-on-LAN part working. The main hurdle seems to be setting up port forwarding correctly. Make sure you’re forwarding port 9 properly and that your firewall rules are in place. Since you contacted your ISP and confirmed the port isn’t blocked, double-check your router settings and ensure the correct IP addresses are configured. Let me know if you need more details!

Use a VPN instead of port forwarding for better protection.

WOL operates at a very basic level and isn't built to endure any kind of network routing. The most viable option is employing a Raspberry Pi Zero as an intermediary in your local network, connecting via VPN or SSH. You can use software that allows you to set up a host and credentials, enabling you to run predefined commands directly on the device with just one click.

I understand you're under a tight deadline and are exploring options like using a Raspberry Pi or VPN. Let me help clarify your situation. Since you haven’t found tutorials yet, here are some suggestions: look for short YouTube guides or step-by-step videos on platforms like YouTube or TechWithTim. If you try a VPN, ensure it’s safe and legal in your area, and consider testing connectivity before finalizing. Good luck!
