Looking for guidance on increasing performance from 8700K to 5900x
Welcome to the forum. Are you planning to keep your 8700k as a secondary machine or something else? It could be a Warzone issue rather than a PC problem. Also, the 5900x looks like a solid investment if you can find one available. I might avoid the 3080 Ti since its VRM is only half that of the 3090 and it’s priced at $1000—maybe MSRP isn’t set yet in the PC market. You have an Evga 1200w PSU that fits the 5900x setup, and you could upgrade to a 750w PSU for the 8700k build.
I'd assume you meant vram. Nothing is confirmed about the 3080ti, in colliding but not limited to; the price, vram, release date, and existence.
It's interesting that an 8700K is having trouble. Have you considered a new Windows setup? Maybe something related to software? If the issue is hardware-based, a 5900X would be ideal, though it might be too much for core count. A 5800X should work well and could run faster because of its single chiplet design. You can also switch from Trident to Ripjaws for RGB without spending much more, especially since DDR4 is coming soon.
Thank you for your response. I'm looking forward to connecting with all the members and gaining insights. I'm comfortable with keeping it and selling it, though the resale value seems limited with the latest releases. The game works well for my friends using 3900x or 5600x displays. The 3080Ti looks promising if it becomes available in May. According to videocardz.com's report, it appears to be already being sent to distributors in the US (where I am located). Would you think this combination would be effective at least until a GPU upgrade occurs?
It seems to be launching with distributor shipments according to VideoCardz.com. I'm not too sure about the initial sales numbers, but I plan to include it in my future upgrades.
I was also surprised, spending the last couple of weeks reviewing benchmarks that seemed promising. Yet my system is having trouble. I removed all unused software from my PC and optimized Windows 10 by turning off unnecessary features, but it's still not performing well. I was considering the 5800X, but my desire for more power pushed me toward the 5900X as a safer choice for the next few years. Regarding memory, I own an O11 Dynamic; you're right, it looks impressive, so it wouldn't be ideal to appear less impressive.
