Recently my brother upgraded his gaming setup and generously donated all his previous hardware to help me enhance my old home computer so I can play games with him.
I understand that the parts he gave are still outdated, but this upgrade represents a major improvement for my current system and should get me back into gaming.
Here are my latest specifications:
Gagabyte GA-78LMT-USB3.0 Rev 4.1 Bios vs F4
AMD FX-6300 BlackEdition CPU
2 x 2GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 1333MHZ (4GB)
2 x 8GB Silicon Power DDR3 1600MHZ (16GB)
2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD ST2000DM001 2TB 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s
ROG NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB STRIX OC Gaming Graphics Card
ACE A750-BR 750W Power Supply
Corsair Carbide 400R Case
XigmaTek Predator LD964 Cooler.
I’m searching for reliable fan control tools (the CPU fan seems to spin up at 2888RPM even when idle) and some solid monitoring programs to gather data before I begin overclocking to maximize my existing components.
Speedfan suggests the CPU temperature is around 43°C at idle, but HWMonitor reports 21°C for the CPU packages—why such differences?
Additionally, what do TMPIN0, TMPIN1, and TMPIN2 refer to on the motherboard? Understanding this should help me configure Speedfan properly. I’ve read conflicting information online so far.
I’m sure I’ll have more questions soon.
Thank you in advance.

TMPIN0 refers to the CPU socket, TMPIN1 is the motherboard, and TMPIN2 is uncertain. Overclocking can be straightforward but risky if not done properly. You can adjust settings via the BIOS or use a tool like AMD OverDrive, which you can download online. See the links for more details: http://www.pcworld.com/article/198882/ov...wbies.html and http://www.howtogeek.com/165064/what-is-...their-pcs/. Reading these articles is very useful.
