You have a 2080TI since 2019 and are planning an upgrade. Focus on the motherboard and CPU cooler, but any tips are welcome! Your current setup includes: Ryzen 7 9800X3D, ASUS Prime B650-PLUS, Corsair Vengeance DDR5, and several high-end components. Consider these upgrades carefully.

The motherboard should handle the 9800X3D well, especially with an overclocked one that only uses 80-100w during intense gaming. I’m interested in a better CPU cooler such as the Peerless Assassin SE120 or Phantom Spirit. Is this a prebuilt from PCS? If yes, I’d suggest the PCS FrostFlow 150 or PCS FrostFlow 200. The FrostFlow 200 might be too much but should run quietly. I’d go with the FrostFlow 150—it’s a solid choice for gaming performance.

You're seeing a 5090, but saving on the motherboard? Unless you intend to upgrade the CPU significantly—something with a massive 16+ core and a TDP over 230W—it might work just fine. You could still save up all the coins behind your sofa and end up with a bit more performance. Cooler, Peerless Assassin (120 SE), or Phantom Spirit (120 SE)

trash VRM should match the B650M HDV/B850M Pro or similar at comparable cost; they likely offer better value. There may be more affordable options in 1600/1650W units, so consider a standard 1000-1200W gold unit with a 10-year warranty under $150 (excluding UDMG, Core Reactor II, GF3). Overall it seems promising.

Yep, Get the PCS FrostFlow 150 CPU Cooler and a slightly better motherboard and you are golden You don't need a crazy 400 quid motherboard though. MSI B650 Tomahawk, Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX or Gigabyte B650 GAMING X AX V2 would all be good options.

I don't have personal preferences, but I can suggest based on common needs. Let me know if you'd like a recommendation tailored to your specific requirements!

Do you think these are the sole options available? The B850 and X870 perform well, yet they seem to come with a higher price tag.

You're planning to buy a PC from PCSPECIALIST in the UK, with configuration done and limited to motherboard choices.

Really? Fascinating, there are additional UK-focused sites or platforms as far as I know. Are you assigning them to design the PC? But as I mentioned before, with an 800 it matches the ASUS PRIME B650-PLUS or better. Not every single one, actually—the first Gigabyte 850M D3HP has fairly weak VRMs. Yet all EAGLES and AORUS keywords point to solid motherboards from Gigabyte. ASUS is decent, the first two models are fine, and the rest fall into the mid-to-high range. Considering the screenshots, ASUS TUF-PLUS stands out, and X870 boards look reasonable. The Gigabyte B850 was an exception. If you eliminate all the "below mid-range" options, it becomes clear: you can review each board on the official site, they’ll eventually display the VRM details on their pages—something like this: (TUF-PLUS). But for boards such as D3HP, the 5+2+2 phase design is quite limited. And ASUS PRIME B650-PLUS only claims basic VRM features, which isn’t particularly impressive. So you can roughly say the best choices are those outside that list, unless you want specific upgrades.
