Looking for good deals on the 5700G + B550 versus the X570 under $200?
Looking for memory recommendations for a 5700G build im buying, budget for the ram is about 90-100 max but i'd like to stay lower if it won't affect performance much. I'll be using the IGP while I wait for a GPU so I've heard ram is a little more important. Currently looking at these: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/6jBTwP/...8d-16gtzrx https://pcpartpicker.com/product/4JBhP6/...g36c16u4bl Also I'll be overclocking the CPU and maybe the RAM if its worth it so I'm contemplating between a B550 or X570 board in the sub 200$ range with wifi 6 since I've heard that the X570's can be pretty cheaply made at that price so they can be similar to b550's in featureset but I dont know much about motherboards. Thanks guys! Edit: I'd like to have RGB on the memory
Get a B550 Tomahawk paired with a solid Crucial memory. It handles the high speeds well, and the Tomahawk remains a strong board even with decent overclocks. Boards like the X570 with comparable VRM specs typically cost about $50 more, so unless you're okay with a less reliable option, go with B550 for this budget.
I understand speed is important, but I'm curious about how much it actually impacts everyday use. If it does, what changes are noticeable and in which areas? Also, comparing the tomahawk to those two motherboards helps clarify its value—especially since they lack wireless features like Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
It's roughly a 5% improvement based on the task at hand. Gaming relies heavily on quicker memory, and with an APU it should perform even better. Other production tasks also benefit from fast memory, though I'm not very familiar with that area. I didn't notice Wifi 6 mentioned in your original message, so I didn't consider a board with it. For choosing a board, I'd still pick the MSI option, as it would suffice for a 5700G.
