Seeing little more than 8gb appears when you only have 8gb. It usually drops to about 92% to 95% and then just starts to load slowly on your storage drive. Games that need more than 8gb—like Minecraft with extended view distance (just a simple setting, no mods required), Kingdom Come Deliverance, PUBG, Vermintide 2, Far Cry 5, GTA V, and ARK: Survival Evolved—tend to be the most demanding in terms of memory usage.

This was one of the games I tried; it typically consumed around 9 or 10GB of RAM on my X58, but now it's using only about 7.5GB.

You should also ensure you have sufficient and quicker RAM along with a powerful CPU. The main purpose of using RAM is to store the data you'll need and retain it until you require it again. The quicker the processor and RAM operate, the faster it can free up memory for new tasks. Greater speed means less reliance on preloading for similar outcomes. 3D CAD/CAM applications can consume a significant amount of RAM if you're experimenting extensively. Just a short while ago I launched a 3D assembly that completely exhausted my 32 GB of RAM, forcing me to constantly load more memory.

Significantly quicker performance with both RAM and CPU now. The CAD tools are also much more efficient. Video editing feels quite demanding at the moment.

Updated progress: Checked out the games recommended by our friends, but outcomes stayed consistent. I ran a few extra MemTest86 passes and confirmed 30 errors on the third run—indicating a bad OC. Adjusted frequency to 3200mhz and kept timings at XMP spec for further testing.
