Hey there! You're thinking about a major upgrade—great move! Your current setup is solid, but your games demand more power. A fresh CPU and motherboard will definitely boost performance and longevity. Let me know if you need help picking the right parts!

You're considering either the 13.6k or the 5800x3d display. If budget isn't an issue, which one resolution will suit your needs?

It's clear you're evaluating whether an upgrade is necessary. The 8700k remains adequate for gaming, especially at 1440p, where most modern titles already deliver over 100 FPS. Performance gains are minimal beyond that, mainly limited by your display. At 4K, the improvement drops to just a few frames per second. If you handle rendering or heavy CPU work, extra cores can help, but the benefit varies. Check online comparisons and consider your specific resolution and frame rate needs before deciding. Higher resolutions often reduce the advantage of a CPU upgrade since the GPU becomes more critical.

Primarily 2560x1440 (1440p) resolution. It seems there’s a lot of mixed feedback about my CPU performance. Some people think it’s limiting the GPU, which is why I considered upgrading.

I mean, at lower resolutions, absolutely. But you're ALREADY getting good enough FPS to outpace most monitors. Watch the video I posted, if the extra FPS is worth it in your opinion, then sure, upgrade. But even at 1440p you're above 100 FPS in most games, and, IMO, that's plenty for me when I game. Hell, I'm perfectly happy when games are above 60 FPS. But again, this is you, not me, so just watch some videos. If you're HAPPY with gaming performance, why upgrade? You're not REALLY going to notice a difference between 100 and 130 FPS. The real question is, what FPS does your monitor support? If it's only 60.... well THAT should be your upgrade, not your CPU.

The monitor runs at 240Hz with a 1440p resolution, making it suitable for high-performance GPUs and CPUs. It's a new purchase I just made.

Choose a game suitable for high performance. Run it at 150 frames per second, keeping the maximum stable at that rate. Continue for some time. Repeat the test at 120 frames per second and observe any changes. This should highlight the noticeable variation.

Consider using your existing DDR4 RAM instead of buying new components.
