Hello! I bought a G920 for playing Forza on my Xbox. I'm thinking about trying iRacing but don't have the gear stick. Do you know if it's possible to enable automatic controls there, or should I purchase one myself? Thanks!

I have not seen an automatic setting in the game, but you can always shift with a button on the wheel as there is an automatic clutch option

Yes, you have the paddle shifter secured.

That's clear! Let me know if you need anything else.

Consider purchasing Assetto Corsa, as it requires H-Shifter for vehicles that only support it.

Download Assetto Corsa and enter leagues, but beware—racing can drain your budget.

Only a few things are required in the game, though I wasn’t sure how many there were

You must purchase every car and track in iRacing, which comes at a significant cost. The vehicles aren’t inexpensive either; you’ll need hundreds to build a decent collection, especially with the ongoing subscription fee. If you enjoy a particular car and no one else is racing it, you risk losing your money quickly. Assetto Corsa offers a solid base game with some paid DLCs, but its real strength lies in the extensive free mod support—paid mods rival those from the official team. I strongly suggest trying Assetto Corsa; it’s worth every penny. I play offline because I prefer hot laps, though the online version is now quite refined. It still misses some real-world mechanics like blue flags. Online racing appears solid based on what I’ve seen, but skill varies widely among players. There are apps that rank players by ability and safety, helping distinguish skilled drivers from less experienced ones. The AI presents a solid challenge—unless you’re a quick driver like Fernando Alonso, beating players above 90% is tough. You can adjust difficulty so the competition spans a range of skill levels, and aggression can be tailored. However, beware: the system pushes you to buy more content if you rely on subscriptions. Overall, iRacing has potential, but its business approach feels unsustainable.

Thanks for the clarification! I’ll consider it carefully, though I’m leaning toward AC.

Yes, iRacing can be costly if you're looking for a wide range of tracks and vehicles. Consider trying Project Cars 2 or rFactor 2 instead. rF2 offers many free modifications to enhance your experience. Keep in mind you'll need H-Shifter for cars that only support it in Assetto Corsa. You can use an automatic transmission, but it doesn't feel as exciting.
