Consider upgrading to a better CPU for Star Citizen. Your current setup has an i7 770k and RTX 3060 Ti, but you're facing performance limits. A solid performance CPU like an i5-13400 or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D would be ideal for smoother gameplay at a good price.

You're referring to the i7-7700K. If that's the case, you'll likely need a new motherboard for an upgrade. The 7700K is the top CPU option for your existing board. Could you share your budget?

I'm aiming to save money while still getting a solid upgrade for my CPU and motherboard. Right now I have an Intel i7 770K, a GTX 3060 Ti with 32GB DDR4 RAM. I understand this isn’t much to work with, so I’m just seeking some tips as I haven’t been keeping up with the CPU scene for a while and don’t know if I missed any good deals.

The best choice depends on your goals. If saving money matters, Intel is a solid option because it supports DDR4 on the latest boards. For the CPU and motherboard, you can rely on those with more experience.

This performance is impressive; we could easily extend it by another 100GBP, which would represent a significant improvement. From a timing perspective, Raptor Lake delivers strong gains with 3200C16 or 3600C18 chipsets, especially when paired with optimized advanced timings. PCPartPicker's list includes an Intel Core i5-13600KF at 3.5 GHz, a 14-core processor (£277.88 on Amazon UK), and the MSI MAG B660M motherboard with DDR4 micro ATX (£129.99 on Amazon UK). Combined total comes to £407.87, covering shipping, taxes, and available discounts. This data was generated by PCPartPicker on June 7, 2023.

That's enough. I'll head straight for the Raptor Lake platform upgrade, unless you spot a really good deal on a used 5800X3D or 12700K.
