I've been trying to upgrade my RAM to 32GB from 16 because several games are really testing it. The main issue is that my old RAM is no longer available (the crucial ballistix 8x2 RGB DDR4 3200). I found a new one (Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB, 2x8GB DDR4-3600 CL18) for £36. I'm wondering if it will fit with my old RAM. When I mixed them in my dad's PC it didn't boot, which is concerning. Should I spend £20 less to get another 2x8GB set, or £20 more for a brand new 32GB one? Also, I know the 3600 speed but the 3200 model costs only £2 less—I thought it was worth it in case I ever replace the old one and need full performance.

Only operate at the speed your RAM allows. With multiple sticks, all running together can be faster than using just a few, though it won’t be a huge boost. Running four sticks at 3200 is better than two at 3600, but you won’t see much extra performance from the 3600 alone. They should work well together, but there’s no certainty about results.
