I purchased a gigabyte Aorus WaterForce 360 and followed the setup guide. I connected the USB port to the motherboard header, attached the SATA cable, and made sure the RGB light on the pump was working. The fans are running at 70% during a 4K game, but they aren’t spinning. The pump itself seems functional.

The connection for the fans isn't linked to the ID I expected, which seems unusual. I'm guessing it might be drawing power from the SATA port.

The fans need proper wiring. USB and SATA ports let the pump and screen work, but they don’t supply power to the fans. Refer to the manual for the diagram.

I connected the USB header to the AIO CPU port on the motherboard, and the fans started spinning at 240 RPM. I noticed they should have been in a USB header, but now they won’t turn.

You connected a USB header to a fan header—maybe you're unsure about the setup. An AIO CPU port refers to an all-in-one CPU that includes the processor, memory, and sometimes cooling components in one unit.

That's correct, there are only five connections available. It seems the fan connector doesn't have an AIO cooler, and this image shows the available ports.

The fans were already running before you noticed the USB wasn’t connected to a USB port. It’s possible they were spinning at lower speeds, and connecting the fan header to a USB cable could have caused damage.

They were spinning but didn’t fry anything because the AIO CPU fan header matches the connections used in a USB header. It’s confusing why they chose one over the other.
