Looking for assistance with thermal paste for your motherboard socket?
Maybe some leftover dried thermal paste fell into the socket. I’ve used compressed air before, but it didn’t help.
I previously used a tiny exacto knife during an incident. A minor touch works well for collecting it. Fortunately, because it isn’t conductive, you won’t need to worry about leftovers.
There's a good chance that would work, it probably won't cause an issue. Didn't know you were in a hotel room with no tools. Try using the CPU pin itself to stick the thermal paste on, and wipe it away with some small cloth or a credit card that can fit in between the pins. Anything that can do some minor cleanup would be a good idea.
I wouldn't waste time trying to clean it with isopropyl alcohol, since it doesn't conduct electricity. The ZIF connector design ensures it will still make solid contact through enough physical pressure.
Thanks, team - a few Cinebench tests show the PC is fine. The peak was around 64 C.
The PC is running smoothly for about 40 minutes without any problems. Should I clean it or just let it stay as is?
