While playing demanding games, my Ryzen 7 7700X keeps getting very hot—often reaching 80°C to over 90°C throughout the session. I’m concerned about this and want to find ways to lower the temperatures or boost performance. Please review my PC specifications in the attached image and let me know what steps I should take. Your guidance would be greatly appreciated!

The 240mm AIO isn't sufficient for a Ryzen 7. I experienced the same problem with my 5800X when it was new. A 360mm AIO (Arctic is top choice) or at least a model similar to NH-U12A/NH-D15 would work better.

Join the discussions! Is this change or has it always been this way? Review HWInfo and monitor the pump speed as well as the fan speed on the radiator.

it falls outside the typical temperature range during heavy use, so you can apply some undervolting and reapply thermal paste.

It seems doubtful, but a 240 should manage 200W without issues. It might be a bit noisy and push the limits, but I thought it would fit within the power range.

I previously experienced regular overheating problems (crashes and boot loops) with the base clock. To be honest, I was running a Corsair 465X, which is essentially a very basic setup; by chance, it's similar to the OP's situation. Changing to an NH-D15 resolved everything completely, but the Ryzen 5000 tended to get hot.

It looks like you're trying to guess what the air cooler is doing or if it's a less restricted situation. Cooler seems simpler.

The 240 provides ample cooling. A 7700x can be cooled efficiently with a single tower air cooler if installed properly. This isn't accurate advice, but it's important to share correctly. Your setup looks solid—proper mounting, good pressure, enough thermal paste, and a functioning pump. The cooler you have works well for its intended purpose. However, the 7700x isn't built to maximize both clock speed and power up to 95°C. You may need to adjust your expectations if you're used to older systems. Starting with this understanding can ease worries and clarify the product's capabilities.
