Looking for assistance with single stick DDR4 RAM?
Hey everyone! I wanted to check if my single stick RAM is actually running at 1600MHz after adjusting the XMP profile to 3200MHz. Some folks are saying I need one more stick to hit 3200MHz, thinking that adding another would make it work. Since I didn’t have the funds at the time, I got what I had. But if this fixes my issue, I’d really appreciate it! My setup is a Ryzen 5 2600X with an M.2 B450M SSD, 8GB DDR4 RAM, and an 8GB single stick at 3200MHz.
That's incorrect. In several systems, 3200MHz appears as 1600MHz. You might be operating at 3200, which is acceptable.
The actual clock speed is 1600MHz, which is accurate. The DDR rate exceeds twice the 1600MHz, resulting in an effective clock of 3200MHz (MT/s is the right value here). This configuration works properly in your setup. For better performance, consider using another stick if possible—two sticks at 2133MHz will clearly surpass a single stick running at 3200MHz.
