I built my PC last year and it has an i5-10400f B560m with Gigabyte Aorus Pro 2x8 teamgroup DDR4 at 3600MHz. I was thinking about adding more RAM to 32GB and considered a 2x16 kit, but I saw that the 4000 series is available. Is it worth upgrading to a 32GB RAM if I can get the 4000 model for $10 less?

It might work, but it’s not worth the trouble.

It seems risky since we can't be sure your 10400F will manage the RAM at that rate.

Order another set of 2x8GB 3600 units and relish the experience. 4x8GB is also suitable.

I used a 2x8 at 3600 and can't get that exact model anymore. Would mixing it work? Should we keep the same speed but use different RAM?

It would probably work. There's a chance it might not. Sometimes RAM doesn't play nice together, especially if the RAM modules themselves are from a different manufacturer. You could also buy the 2x16GB kit - assuming the pricing is such that it's cheaper per GB - and then add them to your system. In the end, you'd have 48GB of RAM if it works. And if it doesn't work, then you still get the 32GB of RAM you were originally planning on.

Sure, I'll adjust the timing accordingly. Let me know if you need anything else!
