I've been struggling to figure this out all day and nothing seems to be working. Right now I just want to start fresh. When I turn on the computer it keeps asking for a proper boot device, showing a black screen. Could you please assist me? I’ve searched online for days but nothing is helping. As long as I can get back into my PC, any solution would be great.

Check if the drive stopped working or was disconnected. Try reinserting your hard drive or SSD. If it still doesn’t work, you’ll lose all your data. That’s why regular backups are essential. But if it’s simply been unplugged, you might be able to fix it.

It doesn't affect whether it's unplugged, but having a backup means you might not need to replace the hard drive right away.

You can add a backup by following the provided steps or instructions specific to the system you're using.

It's too late if your files are already missing; if the device is just turned off or disconnected, you can reconnect it and use a USB hard disk—don’t rely on a thumb drive. With an existing backup, you can replace the drive and reinstall Windows.
