Hi there, I'm working on a setup centered around performance rather than cost. I haven't faced high-end board choices before, so picking the right motherboard is challenging. My rig will use an LGA-1200 10900K with an RTX3090 later, aimed at top-tier video work. Finding compatible boards was straightforward. The tricky part is PCIe options. I need at least four usable lanes for capture cards besides the 3090, plus a board supporting 10G Ethernet. I already thought about losing a lane due to the 3090 size, but it seems 10G Ethernet with five usable ports on an LGA-1200 isn't available. A bonus would be Thunderbolt support, which the Godlike has, though it only offers four PCIe ports. Is this board something you're looking for? Any suggestions?

For maximum performance, PCI-E 4 would be ideal. It's possible to install it on a Ryzen processor. Someone with a more experienced perspective might recall using an AMD motherboard with Thunderbolt in their setup.

You're correct to adjust the count. Five PCIe ports total, with one dedicated to the 3090 and the remaining four for capture cards makes sense.

They’re not fitting the 5x4 or larger slots you mentioned. At that stage, you’ll need X299 and TRX40.

Selected a CPU with 16 lanes and a GPU that can quickly overwhelm its capacity. Would be better to explore alternatives like the TRX40s.

Yes, it would make use of the RTX3090 and leave some PCIe capacity available.

3960x supports 88 pci-e with 4 lanes, while an RXT3090 needing full 16 lanes would leave only 72 lanes available. It's a bit more than necessary but offers better IPC for the CPU. A 2950x also fits due to its 64 lanes, though its IPC isn't as strong.

I spent a lot of time researching last night and found some issues with AMD CPUs and my vMix program. To keep the build stable with vMix and include the 3090, I might need to switch to an x299. I checked out the 10980XE and found a motherboard that meets most of my needs on the ASUS x299 Edition 30. It was tough processing all this info quickly, but I appreciate the guidance—it really helped steer me away from the LGA1200.
