Hey there, everyone. I’ve been facing an issue lately—I initially thought it might be my own mistake, but now I’m getting a lot more worried. Quick background: a few years ago, I set up my gaming PC with 16GB of DDR4 RAM (HyperX, probably the low-end models like 2133 or 2400), an i7-6700 CPU, a 1060 6GB MSI graphics card, a 550W PSU with 84% efficiency, and an ASUS Z170 motherboard. The case fan was also positive. I was excited about it all at first. Over time, I noticed my performance wasn’t up to the mark for some games—especially GTA 5. Even when I adjusted settings, I’d see FPS drop to around 30-40, sometimes even below 70. It’s been frustrating because I kept trying driver updates and special settings, but nothing helped. Now I’m considering a new build, hoping it’ll fix the problem, though I know my CPU might need an upgrade soon. I’m still running a GTX 1080 Ti MSI Gaming X, which felt like a big jump from the 1060, but it didn’t improve things much for GTA 5 either. Playing at low resolution and sticking to lower settings still leaves me stuck in that poor FPS range. It’s really annoying and I’m not sure what to do next. Thanks for your help!

Your CPU is the main limiting factor. The monitor has a low resolution, which suggests the game is mainly processed on the PCU rather than the GPU.

You're exploring options for upgrading your system. The 8700K paired with the 1080Ti is a popular combo, but you're considering moving to a 9700K for potential SLI compatibility. You need to remove the 8700K first since it's not suitable for SLI setups. Make sure your monitor mount is ready before proceeding.

I'm checking to confirm whether the speeds you mentioned are for single-player or online play.
