I am entering a new apartment in one of the trendy cities of the UK. The building itself is brand new and upscale, but the entire complex (40 units) has slow internet speeds. I checked the postcode (M5 5EB) and it claims up to 67 Mb/s, yet when signing up multiple providers mention superfast broadband isn’t available—often only 6-11 Mb/s. This includes popular names like Virgin, BT, Talktalk, Plusnet, and HyperOptic. Could you help me with this?

Do you know any options that could improve the connection or extend coverage? A modern high-end flat should ideally support fast internet now. If not, what should I do? I’ve already made a deposit, so your advice would be greatly appreciated. I need at least 30 Mb/s for streaming, gaming, video calls, and working from home.

I actually work with one of those companies mentioned. The problem is they handle all open reach infrastructure except virgin lines, which means speed stays consistent across providers. Just the bill name changes. The real alternative is FTTP broadband, offered mainly by BT and Zen, though it's still limited to rural areas or new builds. If you send me your full address, I'll check my systems and find out what options are available for you.
