Looking for assistance with 5800x3D and four RAM sticks?
I recently switched from a 9700k with Z390 Aorus Ultra to a 5800x3d and Asus Tuf B550m Plus Wifi II. The issue is I can't get the 5800x3d to upload with four sticks (HyperX 8GB DDR4 3600 17-21-21-39). No matter how many combinations I try, it doesn’t work. Every stick seems to function initially, but once I add more, the RAM LED lights up and it fails to upload. I’ve tested booting in dual channel with different configurations, even using 2400 20-22-22-44 settings, but still get the same problem. My first AMD CPU, and I’ve read that a 5000 IMC should match 9-10 generation Intel specs. Did I just get a faulty IMC? Could the daisy chain on this board be worse than the Aorus Ultra’s topology, or is it definitely a bad board? Right now, I’m using slots A1, A2 and B2. From what I understand, it might be the CPU’s limit handling four sticks, even though all slots work fine. If that’s the case, I’d probably need to return it for a replacement as soon as possible. If it’s a daisy chain issue, I might end up swapping my RAM and buying a 2x16 kit. Thanks ahead!
On my 9700k all components function properly with no issues, passing tests consistently. During extended testing I achieved stable results using all four sticks at 3600. After reconnecting everything, performance drops significantly—cannot run above 3200 with two sticks, and can't reach 3600 with one. I'm unfamiliar with the Ryzen setup and noticed the default FCLK is set to 1200, which contrasts with the recommended 1800. This raised concerns about potential configuration errors.
Purchased a 2x16 3600 18-20-20-40 Hyperx Beast kit that performs perfectly. The burner logs show SKHynix C-Die (CJR), and my systems are solid. I configured it at 16-19-19-36 without adjusting voltages, achieving great stability. Planning to fine-tune later. Ultimately, my CPU refused to accept the old setup, so I’ll sell it. It runs flawlessly with the 9700k.
