How to unzip or extract game files in Windows 10 and what steps to follow. I’m new to Windows and got a Dell gaming laptop; after extracting the game files, many items appear everywhere. Should I make a shortcut of the game for my desktop and remove the others? And if I need to delete the game later, how do I do that? Thanks for understanding—I switched from Mac to Windows.

Opening the zipped folder and copying its contents to another location causes the files to be unpacked. Afterward, you can create a shortcut of the game in the unpacked folder on your desktop. Removing the files will remove the game itself.

Just a quick check, do you need to maintain all files in the folder to avoid any issues with the game?

Yes, the files must remain in the folder that has been unzipped. You are free to remove the zipped folder once the files are extracted.

you don't extract game files (unless youre pirating), you install it.
usually it has a installer executable to install the game.
unlike in mac where you drag it to application folder to install.
there also should be an uninstaller to get rid of it.

Games come with installers.. usually called setup.exe.. or you install them from one of the game platforms like steam..
There is no unzipping needed.

Where did you get the games? If they are legally squired, there's always guide on how to install if they don't use .exe. Though most games are installed by Steam, Origin, GOG etc. anyway, so only reason for zip files is to use mods or something like that.

I occasionally receive games from itch.io, but they often lack installers.
