Hey everyone, my friend's laptop got hit by a lot of malware—pop-ups popped up no matter what I did, even when using the desktop version. It was really slow and frustrating to try and clean it up. So I installed a brand new Windows 7 copy for him. But the laptop is quite old, and I'm having issues finding drivers for his Intel P6100 CPU; the support site doesn’t have any. Plus, the standard Wi-Fi drivers I normally use on fresh installs aren’t working either. If anyone has any tips or help, that would be super helpful!

This device runs on a 64-bit system with 4GB of RAM, specifically a Toshiba Satellite L655 model.

I located the display driver, yet I’m having trouble connecting the Wi-Fi or Ethernet. In Device Manager, the Network Controller, Ethernet Controller, and PCI Simple Comm Controller appear as unrecognized items.

I noticed that searching for laptop models alone brings up resources such as the official support page http://support.toshiba.com/support/drive...xt=2861831. If a specific site isn't available, other platforms offer driver listings like http://www.all-driver.com/notebook-drive...ivers.html and http://www.getdriver.com/notebook/1493/t...2-bit.html.

Both URLs are returning unique model identifiers. It seems Toshiba isn't accommodating the extended laptop models.

It's typical for makers to phase out DLL support for older devices due to cost and lifespan factors. Since laptops generally last only 5 to 7 years, it makes sense to discontinue support after that period. Often, they stop providing updates 3 to 4 years post-discontinuation. These are usually the most reliable options Google identifies. Laptops are typically produced in families where a single driver works across multiple models. Just experiment and see what fits.
