For gaming at 1080p and coding after university begins tomorrow, I found a ready-made PC. It includes a Ryzen 5 5500 CPU, an RTX 3060 Ti GPU, 16GB DDR4 RAM, and a B450M motherboard with M.2 slots for 512GB storage. This model is priced around 465E. If I buy the GPU separately, I might save a bit since both the RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070 are similar in cost. I’m still unsure whether 32GB of RAM is better or 16GB, as the first option could be cheaper if I opt for the GPU separately. I’m also deciding on the PSU but need advice on the CPU—should I choose the Ryzen 5 5500 or the Ryzen 5 5600 because I plan to use this PC long-term?

No AM5 processors are in stock. I’d pick the 5600X for its superior chipset, extra RAM, and better graphics. Instead of buying a ready-made setup, consider building your own PC—it would be cheaper and give you more control.

The 5500 and 5600x perform quite alike, though in some titles the 5600x edges out slightly. The 3070 edges out the 3060 Ti only marginally. Having 32GB of RAM is beneficial, but certain demanding games struggle with 16GB. For long-term use, I suggest opting for the 5600x paired with 3070, as it tends to last longer. This recommendation applies to a 5600, not a 5600x. The best choice also depends on your GPU model.

I neglected to list the games I’m interested in, sorry. I’d like to play titles such as Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnarok, Ac Mirage, Black Myth: Wukong, Cyberpunk 2077, Doom the Dark Ages, and Ghost of Yotai. The person mentioned setting up my own PC, but shipping will be expensive. My budget is roughly $500–550, aiming for a minimal build. Instead of buying the 3060TI, would you consider getting it without the extra parts? Adding 3070 would that help? Also, should I include 32GB of RAM?

For this collection of titles, both the quicker 5600X and the 32GB memory would be beneficial. Spiderman and Cyberpunk are quite intensive on the CPU. The RTX 3070 offers only a slight edge over the RTX 3060 Ti, but it would still be a nice improvement. In summary, these games make the second configuration definitely worthwhile.

These games require powerful hardware, especially with the 32GB of RAM being ideal. They also need a lot of CPU power, as noted by @YoungBlade, so a 5600x processor would be helpful. If you can acquire the second PC without a 3070 and purchase it yourself, that’s a solid choice in my view. Installing a GPU is one of the simplest steps you can take. Just ensure you get a power supply with both an 8-pin and a 6-pin/6+2-pin connector for the 3070. You’ll notice some titles demand over 16GB of RAM, while others operate close to that limit. Going with 32GB is the best option.
