Looking for an affordable laptop that includes Microsoft Word and Excel?
Hello,
I'm looking for the cheapest laptop with MS Word and Excel already installed. A smaller size would be ideal since it'll be used occasionally while traveling—like at airports or on road trips. I wasn't sure about a Chromebook, as they're often seen as less suitable for office tasks. I'm comfortable with gaming PCs but not much familiar with laptops.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Are you asking if it's a preloaded version that allows payment later?
Office is a licensed product, it doesn't come free (though there is a web version that offers free though limited use). What is preinstalled on laptops (and desktops) is a short term trial that eventually times out unless you pay for a license. These preinstalled versions are also not transferable to another machine.
they aren't available on cheap laptops. there are free options such as libreoffice. what screen size would you require? where are you purchasing from? how affordable is it?
Google Docs and Sheets function on a Chromebook and support reading and writing in Word and Excel.
I believe they used to offer something similar. I remember my Dell from the Sandy Bridge time—tower PC, not a laptop—and it came with Office 2013 that only included Word and Excel. Since that was all I needed, I never bought Office.
It seems it's been a long time since they provided such a basic version. Even my Haswell era Dell no longer included it.
I think Microsoft realized they shouldn't give people just the bare minimum anymore, as that would prevent them from purchasing the full suite or subscribing to Office 365.
